According to American Stroke Association (ASA) stroke occurs when there is absence of blood flow to a part of the brain due to either obstruction of a vessel from a blood clot (ischemic stroke) or bleeding from a ruptured vessel (hemorrhagic stroke) (ASA) (American Stroke Association, 2022). The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) state that it is the fifth leading cause of death in the US and more than 600,000 people in the country encounter first time stroke each year (CDC).

According to a report from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD,2019) metabolic factors, including high systolic blood pressure, body-mass index, fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, and low glomerular filtration rate, contributed to 72% of stroke cases. When embraced by healthcare professionals, evidence-based practice (EBP) enhances patient outcomes by integrating the best scientific data with clinical expertise and patient values. This assessment aims to effectively guide and collaborate with a new nurse, directing them to valuable resources for delivering evidence-based care to stroke patients.

In this investigation, a recently recruited nurse in the department is tasked with caring for a patient with stroke .Evidence-based practice (EBP) plays a pivotal role in optimizing nursing care for stroke patients, aiming to elevate safety and quality outcomes. By integrating the latest evidence from literature with nursing expertise, EBP becomes essential for effective leadership in healthcare. In caring for stroke patients, nurses must prioritize timely intervention given the urgency of symptoms. Essential skills include proficiency with the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale and comprehension of thrombolytic therapy criteria. Vigilant monitoring of vital signs, conducting dysphagia screenings, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration are vital aspects of comprehensive care. Emphasis on early rehabilitation and secondary prevention further enhances patient outcomes.

Stroke Diagnosis Strategies

Individuals deal with each other in a complicated, ever-changing approach. Promoting an intimate connection between stroke patients and medical professionals is essential to providing high-quality care. When healthcare professionals face challenges in communicating with individuals experiencing communication disorders, it can lead to a decline in the quality of care and diminish overall patient satisfaction with their healthcare experience. Among healthcare professionals, nurses are also deemed essential for stroke patients to deliver continuous bedside care around the clock. Interprofessional collaboration empowers healthcare professionals to exchange their expertise and perspectives, working together to establish shared goals with the objective of enhancing or preserving the patient’s health status (Ngangue et al).

Ideal Workplaces for Diagnostic Quality Research

Novice nurses seeking reliable research on stroke can access a variety of trustworthy sources. Utilizing search engines like “Google Scholar” and “PubMed” within online library databases is a recommended approach. Another valuable database for nurses is CINAHL, accessible through the hospital’s online library. Systematic reviews are essential because they provide thorough summaries of the state of knowledge in a given field. They provide a starting point for determining the most important areas for future research and answering issues that might not be covered by a single study. Furthermore, systematic reviews can identify gaps in primary research and point out areas that require further investigation.

To put it simply, systematic reviews produce a variety of knowledge products that are specifically designed to satisfy the requirements of different users, such as patients,nurses, healthcare professionals, researchers, and legislators Page et al. (2021).Ensuring that their education aligns with the latest standards and is endorsed by the hospital is crucial for new nurses, and they can achieve this by consulting hospital policies and procedures. This comprehensive approach allows novice nurses to stay current and well-supported in their knowledge of stroke management .

Clinical Guidelines Repositories

I would advise the new nurse to review the guidelines and policies of the American Stroke Association (ASA) (American Stroke Association, 2019). CINAHL is another useful resource for content based on research, giving new nurses another way to obtain pertinent data.For a new nurse learning about illnesses like stroke, I suggest starting with a search on the MedlinePlus database for a trustworthy and thorough overview. After that, it’s best to use the PubMed search engine that the hospital provides via the online library.

Alignment with Evidence-Based Practices

Evidence-based practises (EBPs) have been around for thirty years, according to medical literature. The goals of evidence-based decision-making (EBDM) are to reduce costs, improve patient outcomes, raise the standard of care, and standardise practice (Connor et al., 2023). Continuous assessment and nursing care based on evidence-based practises are critical to reducing the risk of adverse outcomes for stroke patients (Green et al., 2021).

Effective Content Organization and Logical Flow

When managing strokes, new nurses need to arrange information purposefully. Make sure everything makes sense and that there are easy transitions between important ideas. Understanding depends on precise word choice, proper grammar, and flawless spelling.
